Reflections on the Life of An Icon

By Dr. Gloria Latimore-Peace

Presented by Omni-University

"I must find the truth of heritage for myself

And pass it on to them, and in years to come

I believe because I have armed them with the truth,

My children and their children's  children

Will venerate me,

For it is the truth that will make us free!"

"What Shall I Tell My Children Who Are Black..." by Dr. Margaret  T.G  Burroughs

We gather here ,once again, to pay tribute to our Mother Icon, Dr. Margaret Taylor Goss Burroughs who was born on November 1st and joined the Ancestors on November 21st (2010). In addition to becoming an Icon, a venerated and highly respected "Real" model, during her earthly sojourn, she also served as our "Guardian" . Mother Burroughs loved people and , as a far as we could tell, most of the people whom she loved reciprocated as  we, her "children", are doing now.

Those who were fortunate  enough to be in relationship with her were, in a very real sense,  her "family". In fact, it could be claimed -if age difference warranted it- that she was their "Mother"; or, their "Sister" should they be her peers. Mother Burroughs' interests, in the success of her "family members" as well as the progress of her  "community", were not only well-known, they were well- documented. (See Recommended Readings below).

She was a world- traveler but, she  definitely was not a "bourgeois"  tourist since her "community" was international. She prepared for her visits by purchasing necessities to take with her as gifts to the people in her "homes" in other  parts of the world .Kindness and generosity were ingrained in her DNA. She was known as much for promoting causes and people as for building organizations and institutions as has been attested to by the "eye-witness testimony" of her progeny in this "H3O Art of Life" series.

We have endeavored to introduce or/ and to reacquaint you with our beloved Mother Icon during the last three episodes of "The H3O/ Art of Life Blog" which is also being shown on our YouTube channel and CAN-TV Channel 19  "H3O Art of Life" television show.1 We hope you also view "The H30 Art of  Life Shows" that  accompany  each Blog.
