"Children Are the Reward of Life" African Proverb

"The H3O ART of LIFE" TV Show: "Family Matters: The Role of the Parents" is the subject of today's H3O Art of Life Blog. Fellow Omni-U Faculty members Wayne Sebamurti Gentry and Dr. Asantewaa Oppong Wadie join me, Dr. Gloria Latimore Peace, in a discussion, the purpose of which was/is to clarify  parenthood.

Parenthood is viewed, herein, from an Africentric perspective- first-as a role, i.e., function, then as a community of persons and not merely two biological parents of opposite genders. According to the way of thinking of our ancestors, "It takes a village to raise a child." Thus, the adults of the Village  must recognize that it is the responsibility of all of us to serve as the custodians of our children. Honing our parenting skills is a necessary prerequisite to assuring the success of our mission.
